Widow? Widower? Spending too much time alone?
Meet other local widowed people for coffee and a chat.

About mwf
my widowed friends mwf is a network of weekly, local, coffee groups where widowed people meet to improve their social lives and make new friends.
Our first groups opened in Cornwall in autumn 2025. Through 2026 and 2027, we are starting new groups across Surrey and Devon.
How Groups Work
Our coffee groups are the backbone of the network. Face-to-face, regular meetings and opportunities to organise other events too.
Everyone has a regular coffee group
When you join, you pick a coffee group that you will go to each week. You would normally chose the group nearest to your home, but you can choose another if it's more convenient for you.
Group Size
Our groups range in size from 10 members upwards. We have a maximum number for each group so that you will all fit in your venue. Not everyone will be able to go every week, but you will see familiar faces every time you attend.
Meetings
Each group meets at the same venue on the same day and time each week. We meet as normal on bank holidays, provided your regular venue is open. The only day we don't have any meetings is Christmas Day.
Meeting Locations
Meetings are only open to members, so we don't advertise the exact location online. All venues are central in the town or city, generally within ten minutes walk of public transport options.
Who Can Join?
Anyone whose long-term life partner has died, however long ago, whether you were married, in a civil partnership or co-habiting. Whatever your age, background or beliefs you are welcome at mwf.
Where We Operate
We currently have 11 weekly groups open in Cornwall and are collecting names for groups starting soon in Devon and Surrey.
What We're Not
- We don't provide counselling, support, or therapy. We are simply social groups for anyone widowed
- We are not a dating group, and any relationships within the group must be discreet
- We are not open to non-members, so members know that everyone in the group is also widowed and understands the challenges they face
Our Groups
Our groups are organised by county. Choose yours to see our groups and how to join.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get more details?
This website has a lot of information, so look here first. Then, if you still have questions, contact us.
What if I live outside Cornwall?
The groups in Cornwall are open for new members. Groups in Devon and Surrey will be starting soon. If you register as interested then we will message you when a group near you opens. If you live outside of these Counties then we don't yet have plans for a group in your area.
I don’t want to pay online, can you arrange something else?
The membership fee is processed by Stripe (who are used by many major retailers). They are a reputable company, safe and reliable. You can use a credit card or arrange a direct debit on their payment page. We can’t accept any other payment method.
What if I don't use emails and/or texts?
If you don't use emails and texts then you will not be able to join. These are the main methods we use to communicate with our members. If you dont have an email address then maybe a family member or friend will allow you to use their email address. You will however still need to be able to receive and reply to text messages every week.

We're here to help. Your question goes first to Molly, our AI helper. Molly is a computer programme, not a person — which means she's on hand any time of day or night, 365 days a year, and can usually answer straight away.
Molly works under the team's supervision, and we expect her to handle most questions on the spot. Anything that needs a person goes straight to us, and we'll reply by email or phone as soon as we can. Ask below, or if you'd rather use email, write to Molly at molly@mywidowedfriends.co.uk.
